NA28 beta won't install in STEPBible local installation

    Details

      Description

A STEPBible user reported that the Nestle-Aland, Novum Testamentum Graece, 28th Revised Editon (NA28) has an error when trying to install. I was able to reproduce it by attempting to install it on my local installation of STEPBible in Windows 10.

I know it's in your beta modules. Please let us know if it is a problem with STEPBible and I'll report it to our team.

In STEPBible local installation go to Help | Install more Bibles.

      Sort and filter for Nestle.

Attempt to install per the image below.

Hi Cyrille, I'll check into it more. I just tested it on our new local installation of STEPBible and I could complete the installation, but no verses come up when I try to view NT verses. I'll inquire further with our team.

As for STEPBible. You can use it here: www.stepbible.org.

Our local installation can be downloaded here: https://www.stepbible.org/downloads.jsp

It can indeed be used on Linux.

Now I understand, NA28 is not free you need a key to use it. And you need to by the key in the Deutsch biblegeselleschaft.

The NA28 is not in the Crosswire repo.

On our local installation of STEPBible we have a page to add more Bibles from several different repositories we have worked with, one is the "Crosswire (beta) (Internet)". One of the Bibles there is:
Nestle-Aland, Novum Testamentum Graece, 28th Revised Edition (NA28)
          Category:BibleLanguageGreek, Ancient (to 1453) (grc)Features R N G V I

Is there anything that you can do to prevent that from showing? I've had a couple users in the last year or so write to say they try to get it on the local installation, but it gave them an error. Now with a recent update of our local installation, it installs, but there is no content (perhaps due to the need for the key?).

If there's no way to remove it I wonder if info could be added to its title to discourage STEPBible users from trying to get it on your end, or ours (not sure if that is possible.

So, STEP should look for the configuration entries and display something appropriate to the user:

          CipherKey

          UnlockInfo
