Anderson module has textual errors

The source text was obtained from the Internet Archive.

There are textual errors and textual differences in the source text.

Example: (error)

Acts 16:37: But Paul said to them: Having publicly scourged us uncondemned, us who are Etonians, they threw us into prison: and do they now put us out secretly? No, verily: but let them come and lead us out.

The correct word is "Romans".

I rather suspect that this is an example of an OCR error badly "corrected" by spell-check software.

Example: (difference)

Romans 1:17: For in it God's plan of justifying men by faith is revealed, in order to faith: as it is written, He that is justified by faith, shall live.

The wording in the 1866 printing is "the righteousness of God".

The same switch was done at 3 more locations in Romans.

I rather suspect that the textual difference is from an early 20th century revision made by the inheritors of H T Anderson's estate. This casts doubt on the authenticity of the source text held by the Internet Archive, or at the very least its attributed identity.

 

Some further information:

The Dedication page of the 1866 printing clearly identifies the date as "March 1864".

As and when we update the module, I recommend the year in the Description key be changed from 1865 to 1864.
