      Description

I was Sooooo looking forward to this version as I had previously brought up the fact that in 1.4.2 the Phrase search was simply working as a normal search and bringing up hundreds of results.

However I was informed that it would be working in 1.4.3. and have been regularly checking for updates.

Alas, it doesn't find any results at all for the many 'phrase' searches I have tried.

I do hope it is fixed one day as it is a great piece of software but as Phrase searches are one of the main functions I need and I can only really use it, as it is when I know where the scripture is I need.

Here is just one example of a search I did in the KJV for 'Everything' (whole Bible): "parable spake" This is found in John 10:6 but turned-up with no results.

      God bless.
      In Christ Jesus, Karl.

          Hi Karl.

The issue still is that more is found although a phrase is specified.
But I can't reproduce you finding that nothing is found. See the screenshot.

Although MacSword should re-index each module with version 1.4.3 try to remove the indexes manually in:
          ~/Library/Application Support/MacSword/

The indexes are folders beginning with "index-KJV" for example.

          Regards,
          Manfred

Thank you for your kind reply.

I found and deleted the index as your instructions eventhough after I had updated to 1.4.3 MacSword re-indexed.

I did the same search phrase and again MacSword re-indexed. However, no results were found (See image)

But as you mentioned the original issue is not yet resolved, is this a big problem and do you think you will be able to fix it? The only other software I have is iLumini Gold which is a really heavy program and my little Powerbook really struggles with it, But I fing MacSword works great apart from this one, important issue.

          God bless.

          Karl.

I found out that on an english environment you need to specify the string surrounded by high comma ' not ".

          Hi Manfred.

          Thanks for the reply.

          Just to let you know.
I just downloaded the latest version (1.4.3) again, deleted all indexes, re-stalled latest version.

Setup a Phrase search for 'jesus wept' with high comma as per your instructions and received three results only one of which found the phrase 'jesus wept' (John 11:35) the other two found Matt 26:75 and Matt 14:72 where the words Jesus and wept were found in the verse but not as a phrase.

So I am back to the same unworking 'phrase' search as version 1.4.2. when I used " but now using high comma ' for the search instead of the previous "

Thanks for all the effort it really is appreciated and 'God willing' you'll get it to work on Tiger sooner or later.

          God bless.
          In Christ Jesus, Karl.

Well, at least it works again.
As the subject of this issue sais, the phrase search didn't work at all for you, right?
And with ' it should at least work again instead of finding nothing.

MacSword uses the Apple SearchKit framework for indexing and searching (the same that Spotlight uses underneath).
So what SearchKit offers can can do, nothing more.

I just did a couple of more tests.
It seems to me that there are no additional search results on Leopard than the actual phrase.
I don't know why this doesn't work on Tiger.
          Maybe a solution is found.

          Regards,
          Manfred
